Angled RGB to HDMI converter for Amiga 500 and Amiga 500+. Compatible with internal accelerators like the Terrible Fire 536 or the PiStorm A500.
RGB2HDMI Angled for Amiga 500/500+ is an adapter which uses a Raspberry Pi to covert the RGB signal of your Amiga 500 and 500+ to digital HDMI. This solution adds pixel-perfect HDMI output to Amiga computer and lets you connect monitors and TVs with an HDMI input. The necessary Raspberry Zero board and RGB2HDMI software are available as product options. We recommend adding our pre-configured SD card to make configuration tasks easier.
The interface comprises a Raspberry Pi Zero and a specially designed Hat containing a small CPLD. Custom firmware on the Raspberry Pi, in conjunction with the CPLD, is able to correctly sample each of the supported video modes to give a pixel-perfect rendition. The HDMI output is locked to the input so there are no frame drops, repeats or tears and it also has low lag of around 4 milliseconds (less than a quarter of a frame).
Note: the RGB2HDMI Angled converter is compatible with our Amiga 500/500+ chip memory expansions, the GottaGo FastRAM 8MB, the IDE68K + GottaGo FastRAM 8MB, external accelerators, and also with internal accelerators for Amiga 500/500+ like our Terrible Fire 536 or the PiStorm A500. Also a modification have to be made on the Amiga 500 Rev3 (it is an easy task but soldering skills are required). Necessary components and instructions to make this modification are included.
